Downhouse Open Hunter Trial
Wednesday 26th October
Half term's here again and we were off to Longwood for their mid-week fun show.
First in was the lead rein class with Eve riding Rosemarie and Mansel, with speedy runner Jessica. Both did lovely rounds to gain equal 1st place.

Next in was Luke in the "Ride 'n' Leggit". He did nice, speedy rounds on both Rosemarie and Mansel but wasn't quite fast enough against the big ponies to be in the placings, but both got special rosettes.
2ft jumping now with Jessica on Eddie and May. Eddie did a lovely steady round with an unfortunate pole down. May did two great rounds to come 2nd in a big class.
Sunday 13th November
First in was the lead rein with Amy and Jumbo and Eve and Toy Soldier. Both combinations went very well, with Amy and Jumbo placed 3rd adn Eve and Toy Soldier 4th, both qualifying Trailblazers 2nd Rounds.
Next in the First Ridden, Luke and Toy Soldier, making their debut together, came 2nd and Eve and Rosemarie were 3rd, both qualifying Trailblazers 2nd Rounds.
Ridden Mountain & Moorland Small Breeds was next and Courtney and Jumbo were their consistent selves for 1st place.
Beth and Polly continued their winning ways with a win in both the Ridden Part Breds and Riding Pony, with Jessica and Sasha coming 2nd.
Luke and Toy Soldier, Courtney and Jumbo, Jessica and Sasha and Beth and Polly all went in for the Ridden Championship and we were delighted when Polly and Beth were called in to be Ridden Champions.

Sunday 4th December
One crisp, sharp winter's morning we decided to go to Norton Heath to their fun-packed Christma show. The Christmas carols were playing, the Santa's Grotto was blown up and trying to take off in the breeze and there was a very scary-looking inflated snowman in the arena, although I do have to say none of our ponies were fazed by all this as it's just like a normal Saturday at Kelly's Ponies!
The first class was the 45cms for Eve on Star with runner Jessica and Luke on Cindy competing off lead rein. Eve and Star did a fantastic speedy round with a time that would have won the class if it hadn't been for an unfortunate pole down. Star is a cracking lead rein pony, totally unfazed by everything at a busy show and goes to the speed of her leader. She will bring a lucky little rider lots of fun and rosettes. Luke and Cindy did a beautiful, stylish round with great jump off turns to win this well-supported class off lead rein.
Next in was Beth on our lovely, laid back Casanova who went eye to eye with the snowman and wasn't fazed in the slightest. I have to say I think Casanova might just be one of the most likeable, laid back 4 year olds we have had for a long time. He takes everything in his stride with a really willing attitude to anything we ask him to do. Beth and Casanova did a lovely round, showing a nice technique over all the scary fillers and just had an unfortunate pole down.
Next in was May and Courtney in the 65cms. Again, they did a lovely speedy round which definitely would have had them at the top of the line up if it hadn't been for an unfortunate 4 faults. May and Courtney have really got it together and are jumping some lovely stylish rounds. May would suit a competitive rider to showjump and do all Pony Club activities.
A fun day was had by all. Can't wait for the next Christmas jumping show at Brook Farm on the 18th with a different bunch of ponies.
Sunday 18th December
A very chilly early Sunday morning, we loaded up and were on our way to Brook Farm for their Christmas Fun Show.
First in was Eve on Dollar with runner Jessica in the lead rein. They did a lovely clear first round but had an unfortunate pole down in the jump off.
Next in was Luke on Dollar. They had an unlucky 4 faults in their first class, but then went on to do a fantastic round in the small section of 'Take Your Own Line' to win the class in great style.
Beth on Casanova, Jessica on Sasha and Courtney on May were in next in the larger 'Take Your Own Line'. All did good rounds but were just out of the rosettes.
All three combinations then in the 2ft3 speed class. Again, they all went well, with Courtney and May gaining 3rd place.
We were really pleased with all the ponies today. It was Dollar's first show and, as always, he was safe and steady and totally unfazed by everything going on around him. It was Sasha's first time out jumping. As always she was incredibly brave and wowed everyone with her scopey, stylish jumping technique. It was Casanova's second time out jumping, so obviously he knew what to do. May and Courtney are proving to be a combination to watch out for.
